Virke
Mange af de opgaver vi førhen varetog er nu overtaget af staten. Hospitaler og skoler drives i Danmark uden ordenssøstre. Det betyder at andre facetter af ordenslivet er blevet tydelige – vi er her fortsat, i tjeneste for Gud og næsten.
De fleste ordensfællesskaber i Danmark lever i tæt tilknytning til en menighed, som de giver åndeligt følgeskab med bøn, vejledning og trosundervisning af børn og voksne. Nogle søstre driver retrætevirksomhed til gavn for mennesker, som trænger til at træde et skridt tilbage fra hverdagens travlhed og mærke Guds nærvær. Andre lever det klassiske klosterliv med korbøn og kontemplation. Nogle driver gæstehus og andre har gratis suppekøkken og lever midt i blandt samfundets mest udsatte.
